ToggleMarijuana is often seen as harmless or even beneficial, especially with the growing acceptance and legalization in many states. While it is true that marijuana may have medical uses for some individuals, long-term and frequent use can lead to dependence, mental health challenges, and a decline in motivation, focus, and overall well-being.
At R&R Health, we recognize that marijuana addiction can be more subtle than other substance use disorders, but it can still be deeply disruptive. Clients may struggle with daily functioning, relationships, mental health, and personal goals while feeling unable to cut back or quit. Our treatment program helps clients regain control, address the underlying causes of use, and build a healthy, balanced lifestyle without dependence on marijuana.
While marijuana is not typically associated with the same level of physical withdrawal as drugs like heroin or alcohol, it can still create significant psychological dependence. The brain becomes accustomed to the dopamine surges triggered by THC, making it difficult to experience pleasure and motivation without it.
